Friday was another Poya Day: Poson. On Poson Buddhists in Sri Lanka celebrate the arrival of Buddha, and thus Buddhism, to Sri Lanka. Poson and Wesak, Buddha’s birthday, which was celebrated in May, are two of the biggest Poya Days so they each involve big celebrations. I caught these pictures from the car on the way to Galle. I think they were just practicing for a parade, as opposed to actually having the parade, but it was hard to tell.
