On my trip we made it all the way to Jaffna, one of the northern most points in Sri Lanka. It’s an area that was besieged by violence during Sri Lanka’s 26 year civil war and the affects of conflict are very much evident. Not too many foreigners are able to travel to this part of the country yet, so it was cool that I was able to go.
There are signs of hope on the Jaffna peninsula and in Jaffna town. Shops are opening and people are out and about. Let’s hope peace can be maintained.
Most of these pictures were taken at Elephant Pass, the town at the beginning of the Jaffna Peninsula. Part II of Jaffna town forthcoming.
