Bentota

Way back in June, we went to Bentota for a friend’s wedding.  Bentota is only about two hours away from Colombo so you can maximize your beach relaxing time without having to spend too much time traveling on Sri Lanka’s roads.

We stayed at the Taj, which is on a gorgeous property with beautiful views.  The outside of the hotel seems Geoffrey Bawa-esque to me.  The entryway is impressive and so is the lobby, but the rooms leave something to be desired.  Apparently, Taj managers from India recently visited and there are plans for a complete renovation.

I think I would much prefer the smaller, boutique hotels that are dotted all over Sri Lanka.  My friends married at Club Villa.
